MOVEC was the thesis project I created to obtain my BA. A project with which we proposed taking advantage of the overpopulation in Mexico City to generate green electricity and energy supply in a large area of the Historic Centre. With a phenomenon known as piezoelectricity, we propose to use the technology of the Pavegen platforms, platforms that allow us to generate 8 watts of power for each step. It would be implemented on Madero Street in the Historic Centre of Mexico City, walking street with at least 120,000 people crossing every day, giving us a result enough energy to supply the entire center of Mexico City with free and clean energy. Working on the MOVEC project reassured us that we can make transcendental changes if we unite, as our slogan says, “We are power!”. It is about working together, combining talents and strengths to create impactful results. This project has been my most challenging one but also the one that has given me the biggest satisfaction. It required a lot of research and learnings about subjects like engineering, finances and marketing, subjects of which I didn’t know much but that were very interesting to learn from to be able to integrate them into my education to develop a solution to a social necessity.
Collective thinking and interdisciplinary unity are the keys to a society’s growth.
